The Catholic Church has officially announced the appointment of Rev. Fr. Gubazire Bosco Bonaventure, a member of the Missionaries of Africa, as the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
The announcement follows the acceptance by the Holy Father of the resignation of His Lordship Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, who has served as the Bishop of Kabale Diocese. Bishop Rubaramira submitted his resignation to the Holy Father, in accordance with Church procedures.
In a message delivered today at our Lady of a good Shepherd Rushoroza cathedral on behalf of the Apostolic Nuncio, appreciation was expressed to Bishop Callist Rubaramira for his dedicated service and pastoral leadership in shepherding the Diocese. During his tenure, Kabale Diocese experienced significant growth and development.
The Church thanked the faithful of Kabale Diocese for their prayers and support during the process of selecting a new Bishop. The Holy Father emphasized the qualities expected of a Bishop: a person of integrity, a good leader who is kind, patient and understanding, a man of prayer, and one committed to upholding the values and teachings of the Catholic Church without compromise.
The new Bishop is expected to be a shepherd who reaches out to all people, including those in the most remote areas, and promotes active participation among the faithful. He is also called to lead with objectivity, impartiality and a deep commitment to the mission of the Church.
Rev. Fr. Gubazire Bosco Bonaventure has been serving the Church in Ghana and brings with him pastoral experience from his missionary work.
The Holy Father has appointed Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira as the Apostolic Administrator of Kabale Diocese as the Church prepares for his episcopal ordination and installation.
