Bishop Asili Memorial Nursery and Primary School Kabale has emerged victorious in the Kigezi Regional Teachers Debate Network (TDN) competition, earning a coveted place at the national level after an impressive performance on Sunday.

The regional championship, hosted on Sunday  at Kigezi High School,  brought together 18 schools—11 secondary and 7 primary—from across the Kigezi sub-region. Participants competed in debate, public speaking, and poetry, showcasing talent, confidence, and intellectual skill.

Speaking after the victory, head teacher Sister Margaret Tusiime attributed the school’s continued excellence to a strong foundation in discipline and faith. She emphasized that the institution, run by missionary sisters, has consistently excelled not only in debate but also in overall academic performance.

The competition was organized by the Teachers Debate Network Uganda, which continues to nurture critical thinking and public speaking skills among learners nationwide. According to Operations Manager Arnold Kato Atugabirwe, the regional contests are part of a broader effort to prepare schools for national-level engagement.

In the senior category, Kigezi High School emerged as the overall winner, while Bishop Asili Memorial topped the primary section.

The top four schools from each category qualified for the national championship, scheduled to take place in Kampala from May 2nd to 5th next term.

With this achievement, Bishop Asili Memorial carries the hopes of the Kigezi region as they prepare to compete on the national stage.
