Immaculate Kagwa Nominated for Kabale District Seat, Vows to Champion Development and Unity
Immaculate Kagwa has on Thursday been duly nominated by the Kabale District Returning Officer, Aisha Nansubuga, at the Electoral Commission offices in Makanga, Kabale Municipality.
Speaking shortly after her nomination, Kagwa announced that she will be contesting as an Independent candidate with leanings toward the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), saying she believes in the party’s principles and vision.
“I am NRM-leaning on an Independent ticket because I believe in the values of the party. My focus is on promoting development and improving the livelihoods of people across Kabale District,” Kagwa said.
She urged voters not to be swayed by financial influence during the campaigns, but rather to vote based on merit and the strength of a candidate’s development-oriented manifesto.
“I appeal to the people of Kabale to cast their votes wisely. Let us choose leaders based on their ideas and commitment to serve, not on financial handouts,” she emphasized.
Kagwa also condemned the rising tide of religious sectarianism in Kabale and the wider Kigezi region, describing it as a threat to unity and progress.
“Religious divisions are undermining our social cohesion. We must work together as one people regardless of faith or background,” she said.
Immaculate Kagwa becomes the seventh woman aspirant to join what is shaping up to be a highly competitive race for the Kabale District Woman MP seat.
