Breaking News:Three Dead, Several Injured in Trinity Bus Crash in Rukiga District
At least three people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following a fatal road crash involving a Trinity Bus in Rukiga District in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to the ASP Elly Maate , the Kigezi Police spokesperson , the bus, registration number RAT 597K, was traveling from Kampala to Rwanda when it was involved in the accident at Bukinda, along the Mbarara–Kabale highway, at around 2:30 a.m.
Preliminary findings indicate that the bus veered off the road and slid into a trench, resulting in the deaths of three passengers whose identities have not yet been disclosed. Several other passengers sustained injuries of varying severity and were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention.
Traffic officers, ambulance teams, and other uniformed personnel responded promptly and are currently managing the scene as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
Police have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially during night travel, as details surrounding the crash are still being established.
