Kabale – The long-awaited dining facility at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza is set to be completed within three months, according to the contractor in charge of the project. The facility, which will also house office space, had stalled for months due to financial constraints but is now back on track, thanks to the concerted efforts of the school’s alumni and community stakeholders.

The project, which was officially launched on June 25, 2024, is estimated to cost UGX 2 billion. Initially, the Ugandan government, through the Ministry of Education, contributed UGX 300 million—a grant that, while appreciated, was not sufficient to see the project through to completion. This prompted the Old Boys and Girls of the school to rally behind the initiative, raising additional funds to ensure its success.

Speaking about the progress, Mr. Monday Christopher, the Head Teacher of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, expressed deep gratitude to the alumni for their unwavering support.

“This school stands today because of the love and support from our old students. Their commitment has breathed new life into this project and is a testament to the strong bond they have with their alma mater,” he said.

The contractor, Mr. Mucunguzi Anatoli, Director of Archcivil Contractors and Builders Limited, confirmed that the project has been prioritized and will be completed within the next three months.

“We understand the importance of this facility to the school and the wider community. We have made it a top priority, and I assure you it will be completed on schedule,” said Mr. Mucunguzi.

The new building will not only serve as a modern dining hall but will also include additional office spaces to support the school’s growing administrative needs.

St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, located on Rushoroza Hill in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, has over the years earned a strong reputation for academic excellence, vibrant co-curricular activities, and consistently hosting national sports events, including ball games. The new facility is expected to enhance the learning environment and further position the school among the best in the country.
