In a heartwarming gesture of gratitude and unity, the 2005–2010 cohort of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza has donated 110 bags of cement to support the ongoing construction of the school’s new dining hall, a project expected to become one of the most magnificent facilities among schools in the Kigezi region.

The donation, led by cohort chairman Asiimwe Dickson Kamara, took the school administration and staff by surprise as the team delivered the consignment on Saturday. Speaking during the handover, Asiimwe said their cohort felt compelled to give back to the institution that shaped their character, discipline, and success in life.

“We came here to give back to the school that made us who we are today,” Asiimwe said. “Our unity as a cohort drives us to contribute towards the development of this great school.”

Addressing Senior Six students who are set to begin their national examinations next week, Asiimwe and his team urged them to remain steadfast in faith, discipline, and love.

“Love God, love your neighbour, and love your school,” they advised. “That is the foundation of success.”

The five-member delegation also reminded students that life after school can be challenging and encouraged them to stay focused, positive, and determined in order to achieve their goals. They further appealed to other St. Mary’s alumni cohorts to support the school’s various development projects.

Receiving the donation, Mr. Monday Christopher, the Headteacher, expressed deep appreciation to the 2005–2010 cohort for their generosity and commitment to the school’s growth. He noted that the dining hall project, being executed by Eng. Mucunguzi Anatoli, Director of Archcivil Contractors and Builders Ltd, is progressing rapidly and is expected to be completed by December.

“The dining hall will be one of the most impressive facilities in the region once completed,” Mr. Monday said. “We are also undertaking several other projects, including the Jubilee Building and a new girls’ hostel.”

The Deputy Headteacher, Mrs. Margaret Twebaze, also applauded the cohort for remembering their alma mater despite their busy lives and responsibilities.

“They may have many personal commitments, but they have chosen to remember and support the school that shaped them,” Mrs. Twebaze said. “That spirit of giving back is what makes the St. Mary’s community strong.”

The visit by the 2005–2010 cohort not only boosted the ongoing construction efforts but also reignited a spirit of unity and generosity among current students and alumni alike—reminding everyone that true success lies in giving back to the institutions that molded them.
