Faith Over Appearances: Fr. Nelson Agaba Urges Christians to Trust God’s Choice
Christians have been urged to strengthen their faith in God and trust His plans even during difficult moments. The message was delivered by Rev Fr. Nelson Agaba during the morning Mass at Christ the King Parish Kabale in Kabale.
While preaching, Fr. Agaba reminded believers that God often chooses people differently from how humans judge them. Referring to the First Book of Samuel, he explained how the prophet Samuel was sent by God to the home of Jesse to anoint a king.
Instead of selecting the strong and physically impressive sons of Jesse, God guided Samuel to anoint David, the youngest son who had been overlooked by his family.
“Sometimes people judge by appearance, but God looks at the heart. David was ignored by his family, yet God chose him because he had the experience and dedication to take care of His people,” Fr. Agaba said.
He explained that David’s work as a shepherd had prepared him to lead, showing that God often prepares leaders through humble responsibilities.
Fr. Agaba also encouraged families to learn from the biblical example when choosing heirs or leaders within their homes.
“Parents should not only look at physical appearance or status when choosing someone to lead or inherit responsibilities. Character, commitment and ability should guide such decisions,” he advised.
The priest further urged Christians to be attentive to God’s voice and be ready to accept His calling wherever it may lead them.
“God can appoint anyone to lead, regardless of their background. What matters is our willingness to listen to His voice and follow His guidance,” he added.
Fr. Agaba also reminded Christians that they are called to be the light of the world by following Jesus Christ.
“As followers of Christ, we are called to be the light of the world. When we follow Christ, the chief light, we reflect that light to others,” he said.
Concluding his homily, Fr. Agaba encouraged believers to remain steadfast in faith despite the challenges they face in life.
“We should trust God and believe in Him in whatever hardship we go through. Challenges should not blind us, but instead strengthen our faith in God who guides and protects us,” he emphasized.
The priest called on Christians to keep their hope in God and continue living faithfully, reminding them that God’s plans often uplift those who may be overlooked by society.
