Chaplain Urges Youth to Avoid Early Relationships at Kabale Diocese Youth Conference
Rev. Fr. Cleophas Mugabe speaks to the Youth during their Conference at St Mary's College Rushoroza
Kabale–Rev. Fr. Cleophas Mugabe, the Chaplain of Immaculate Heart Girls’ Secondary School, Nyakibaale in Rukungiri District, has urged young people to avoid early romantic relationships that often lead to unwanted pregnancies and early marriages.
He made the call on Friday while addressing youths on the second day of the Kabale Diocese Youth Conference held at St. Mary’s College, Rushoroza, in Kabale Municipality.

In his sharing, the chaplain encouraged the youth to exercise patience, especially regarding marriage, emphasizing that marriage comes at the right time. He reminded them that marriage is a vocation and a calling from God, not something to be rushed into because of age or societal pressure.
“When the right time comes, take courage and respond to God’s call,” he said, warning that many young people have been enslaved by modern influences that push them into premature relationships and responsibilities they are not ready to handle.
He noted that although some youths are already in their twenties and below, many are not yet prepared to manage the responsibilities of marriage. He stressed the importance of proper preparation and maturity before starting a family, adding that without understanding God’s call, one risks losing direction in life.
The conference has attracted several facilitators from across the diocese, including Rev. Fr. Januario Nomugisha Rukabeizira, the Director of Children and Youth Affairs in Kabale Diocese and the chief organizer of the event.
The Kabale Diocese Youth Conference, which began on Thursday evening, will conclude on Sunday with a Holy Mass presided over by the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira.
