All Souls Day: Fr. Balthazard Buhalagarha Calls on Christians to Pray for the Departed Souls
Rev. Fr. Balthazard Buhalagarha Grace of St. Francis of Assisi, Kyanamira Parish, has called on Christians to continually pray for the souls of the departed while remaining strong in faith and hopeful in God’s promise of eternal life.
Fr. Buhalagarha made the call while preaching during the All Souls Day Mass held on Monday at Kyanamira Parish. He acknowledged that losing loved ones is a painful experience that naturally brings sadness and grief, but encouraged Christians to find comfort in God’s love and promises.
He reminded the congregation that God has prepared a better place, heaven, for those who belong to Him, emphasizing the importance of praying for the departed souls.
The priest also cautioned Christians against the tricks of the devil, whom he described as the master and father of lies. He warned believers not to be deceived by claims that deceased loved ones return to attack or disturb the living, explaining that such appearances should not be attributed to the departed but rather to the deception of the devil.
He further reminded Christians that those who have died once lived on earth just like everyone else, stressing that death is part of the human journey.
“Let us not fear death. Instead, we should live as good pilgrims on earth, doing good works and remaining faithful to God so that we may attain eternal life in heaven,” he urged.
Reflecting on the Beatitudes in Matthew Chapter 5, Fr. Buhalagarha highlighted the importance of humility, meekness and a spirit of poverty, reminding Christians that those who embrace these virtues are blessed and promised the Kingdom of Heaven.
He also offered words of comfort to those mourning the loss of their loved ones, encouraging them to invite Jesus into their lives so that He may wipe away their tears, strengthen them and comfort them during difficult moments.
He concluded by reminding Christians that God is the God of both the living and the dead, urging them to make prayer for the departed souls a continuous practice.
The All Souls Day celebration serves as an important reminder for Christians to remember their departed loved ones, pray for their souls and reflect on their own lives as they journey towards God’s promise of eternal life.
