Lions Club of Kabale Reaffirms Commitment to Environment, Education and Helping the Vulnerable
The 35th President of the Lions Club of Kabale, Ms Gloria Katembeka, has reaffirmed the club’s commitment to environmental conservation, supporting vulnerable people facing food shortages, and promoting education as part of its community service activities.
Speaking to Light News Network today, Ms Katembeka said the club would continue implementing initiatives aimed at improving community welfare and addressing challenges affecting disadvantaged people.
“We shall continue focusing on protecting the environment, helping the poor, especially those who do not have food, and supporting education because these are important areas where we can make a difference in our communities,” Ms Katembeka said.
Her remarks follow a recent engagement during which the Lions Club of Kabale hosted Lions District Governor, Lion John Kikanu Byarugaba, of District 411B, in Kabale district and showcased some of its community service initiatives.

During the activities, the club planted fruit trees along Kigongi Road as part of its efforts to promote environmental conservation and contribute to a greener community.
The club also planted fruit trees at Kabale Comprehensive Nursing School, an initiative intended to encourage environmental protection while creating long-term benefits for the institution and the surrounding community.
In another activity, the Lions Club of Kabale constructed a passenger shelter along Mbarara Road to provide members of the public with a sheltered place to wait for transport, improving convenience and protection from harsh weather conditions.
The club also extended a helping hand to a group of vulnerable children who were reportedly experiencing food shortages. The children received essential supplies, including rice, posho and soap, to help address some of their immediate needs.
Ms Katembeka said such interventions reflect the club’s commitment to serving humanity through practical actions that respond to the needs of local communities.
“Service is not just about what we say; it is about what we do to improve the lives of others. We want to continue reaching out to those in need, protecting our environment and supporting initiatives that give our communities hope for a better future,” she said.

The engagement with District Governor Byarugaba also provided an opportunity for the club to appreciate his leadership and dedication to the ideals of Lionism.
The Lions Club of Kabale continues to promote community service through environmental initiatives, humanitarian support and activities aimed at improving the well-being of residents.
Under Ms Katembeka’s leadership, the club says it remains committed to making a lasting difference through collective action and compassion.
