Newly Ordained Priests Urged to Promote Uganda’s Development
Kabale, Uganda – The State Minister for Finance in charge of General Duties, Hon. Henry Musasizi, has called on newly ordained Catholic priests to act as ambassadors for Uganda by promoting the country’s development efforts alongside their missionary work.
Musasizi made the remarks on Saturday during the ordination ceremony of eight priests from the Apostles of Jesus congregation, held at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral Grounds in Kabale District. The ordination was presided over by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
The newly ordained priests are set to serve in various countries across East Africa.
Minister Musasizi emphasized the importance of integrating patriotism into their spiritual mission, urging the priests to share positive stories about Uganda’s progress—especially in areas such as road infrastructure and socio-economic development.
“As you go out to spread the Word of God, also speak of the development taking place back home. Be Uganda’s ambassadors in your respective missions,” Musasizi said.
Also speaking at the event was Ndorwa East Member of Parliament, Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba, who echoed the Minister’s message. He encouraged the priests to emulate the example of the early apostles, who traveled far and wide to preach the gospel, often under difficult conditions.
“Let the lives of the first apostles inspire your mission. Go wherever you are sent, with faith and determination, and fulfill your calling as messengers of Christ,” Niwagaba said.
The ordination ceremony drew hundreds of Christians from across the region, celebrating a significant milestone in the lives of the new priests and the local church community.
