Police Warn Against Exam Malpractice as UCE Exams Begin
Kigezi Region – As the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations commence today, police have issued a strong warning to schools and students against any form of exam malpractice.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that the exam papers were successfully received yesterday without any incidents. He revealed that police are on high alert and ready to arrest and deter any attempts at cheating.
“We have received the exams and everything is so far going smoothly. We caution all schools and students to desist from any form of malpractice. The police are fully prepared to respond swiftly to any such cases,” Maate stated.
He also noted that due to the ongoing rainy season, heavy vehicles and police patrol cars have been deployed to support delivery of exam materials to hard-to-reach areas.
Amos Ahimbisibwe, the area supervisor based at Kabale Police Centre, said 28 schools have been dispatched with exam papers. He mentioned that minor issues are typically caused by beginners who may mix up the papers, but the process is well-coordinated to avoid delays.
“We start dispatching to the farthest schools by 8:30 AM, and we do not expect any delays. All scouts and invigilators have been deployed, and more are on the way. We are confident that we have sufficient manpower to handle the exercise smoothly,” Ahimbisibwe said.
