At the opening day of the 15th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games held in Kampala on 7 December 2025, the delegation from Parliament of Uganda turned heads with authoritative victories across multiple team sports — volleyball, netball and women’s basketball.

Playing at the MTN Arena Lugogo, both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams registered straight-set wins. The women, captained by Helen Nakimuli, dismantled the side from Parliament of Rwanda with a convincing 25–15, 25–20, 25–06. Meanwhile the men, led by Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, overwhelmed the squad from East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) 25–07, 25–12, 25–06. Both teams now look ahead to challenging matchups against Kenya.

In netball, Uganda’s MPs delivered a commanding 72–12 defeat of Kenya. Key performers included Juliet Kakande and Ugandan captain Sarah Netalisire, whose strong shooting and seamless coordination ensured dominance throughout the match. The team is next scheduled to face Burundi.

Uganda’s women’s basketball team also impressed, cruising past Kenya 40–20 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena. Led by captain Suzan Amero — who scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds — the side held firm across all four quarters. Support came from standout efforts by Connie Galiwango, Helen Nakimuli, and Stella Atyang. After the match, Galiwango attributed the victory to disciplined training and the energy from home-crowd support.
