Vice President Alupo Commends RDC Katamba at Kabale University Chancellor Installation
Kabale, Uganda — Uganda’s Vice President, Rtd Major Jessica Alupo, has commended Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kabale, Major Godfrey Katamba, for his dedicated service to the people of Kabale District and the wider Kigezi sub-region
Speaking on behalf of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during a ceremony held Tuesday at Kabale University grounds, Alupo described Katamba as a committed public servant and a strong ambassador of the President in the region.
“I want to end my short message by introducing my brother, Major Godfrey Katamba, the RDC of Kabale District,” Alupo said. In a light-hearted moment, she added that she had jokingly told him she would introduce him as the RDC of Katakwi District if he was not properly acknowledged.
She thanked Katamba for his continued service, noting his contribution to improving service delivery and governance in Kabale and Kigezi at large.
The Vice President made the remarks while officiating at the installation of former Minister of Privatisation, Mathew Rukikaire, as the Chancellor of Kabale University. Rukikaire was appointed to the position on October 17, 2025, by President Museveni and succeeds his predecessor whose term ended on April 28, 2025.
In her address, Alupo conveyed the President’s message and applauded Kabale University for its growing reputation in higher education. She highlighted the institution’s role in offering professional training in critical fields such as science education, tourism, and information technology.
“The growth of Kabale University is vital in advancing skills development and supporting national progress,” she said.
The ceremony attracted government officials, university staff, students, and members of the public, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s leadership and continued expansion in Uganda’s education sector.
