Six Suspected Thugs Remanded Over Aggravated Robbery in Bushenyi
Bushenyi, Uganda — Six people accused of terrorizing residents in Ishaka–Bushenyi Municipality and Kizinda Town Council have been remanded to Nyamushekyera Prison after appearing before the Bushenyi Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The suspects — Tumuhimbise Arnold alias Musajjamukabwe (18), Akandwanaho Crescent (17), Twinomujuni Junior (21), Tumukunde Innocent (22), Nyesigamukama Godwin alias Kapo, and Katehangwa Sharif alias Musiramu (35) — are facing serious charges of aggravated robbery, attempted murder, and receiving stolen property.
Prosecution alleges that the group has been part of a criminal gang that has, in recent months, orchestrated violent robberies and attacks that left several residents in fear, especially in the trading centers of Ishaka and Kizinda.
The suspects were arrested following joint security operations by police and local authorities after numerous complaints from the public about night robberies and assaults in the area.
During the court session, the accused did not take plea as the case is still under preliminary hearing. The Chief Magistrate remanded them until November 20, 2025, to allow further investigations by police and the state prosecution.
Court proceedings attracted several residents who turned up to witness the hearing, reflecting the community’s concern over the rising cases of robbery and insecurity in the municipality.
Authorities have since assured residents that operations to dismantle criminal gangs in the greater Bushenyi area will continue as part of efforts to restore peace and security.
