MTN Foundation, Sense International Uganda Commission ICT Resource Center at Kisoro Demonstration Primary School
Kisoro, Uganda — Sense International Uganda, with support from MTN Foundation, has on Friday commissioned a modern ICT Resource Center at Kisoro Demonstration Primary School in Kisoro District. The new facility, equipped with ten computers and specialized assistive technology, aims to enhance digital learning and inclusion for pupils with visual impairments.
Kisoro Demonstration Primary School is currently the only institution in the district offering inclusive education for learners with visual impairments. The ICT lab, established under the Digital Access Project, comes fully equipped with computers, assistive learning software, sound amplifiers, scanners, printers, and one year of free internet connectivity.
Speaking at the commissioning event, the school’s headteacher Stephen Habyaleme expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting that it will play a key role in bridging the digital divide for learners with disabilities.
“This facility will not only improve digital literacy but also enhance communication and access to information for all our pupils, especially those with visual impairments,” Habyaleme said.
Andrew Tusubira, MTN’s Western Uganda Regional Commercial Head, emphasized the telecom company’s commitment to promoting inclusive education through its corporate social responsibility programs.
“This donation is part of MTN’s broader initiative to support vulnerable communities and promote inclusiveness in education. We have supported several schools across the country, and we are proud to make a difference here in Kisoro,” Tusubira noted.
Tusubira concluded that the project replicates ongoing efforts to ensure that learners with disabilities have equal access to quality education and digital tools, in line with Uganda’s inclusive education agenda.
