A section of parents in Kapelebyong District has threatened to evict striking government-paid teachers currently residing in Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) buildings for allegedly abandoning their duty to teach

Stephen Olinga, the District Education Officer, confirmed that his office has received multiple reports from concerned parents vowing to remove the teachers from the facilities if they do not return to class.

“Parents are expressing frustration because their children are at home while the teachers continue to occupy PTA houses. They feel this is unfair,” Olinga said.

Despite the ongoing industrial action, Olinga noted that the district is prepared for the forthcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). He revealed that at least 200 teachers have already applied to supervise the national exams, easing fears of a potential supervision gap.

The strike, which has disrupted learning in many schools across the district, continues to deepen tensions between parents and teachers as the examination period approaches.
