Kabale NUP Chair Urges Security to Allow Peaceful Campaign Ahead of Bobi Wine Rally
Kabale, Uganda – The National Unity Platform (NUP) party in Kabale is gearing up for a high-profile visit from its party President, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine. Katebire Derick, Kabale District NUP chairperson and aspirant for Kabale Municipal division chairperson, has called on security agencies to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the rallies.
Speaking ahead of the campaign trail, Katebire emphasized that preparations to welcome Bobi Wine are in full swing. He revealed that the NUP leader will address supporters in Rukiga District before heading to Kabale Municipal Stadium on Monday, 10th November, in the afternoon.
“He will start from Rukiga and arrive in Kabale later in the afternoon,” Katebire said. “We expect a large turnout, and security should allow citizens to exercise their democratic right to show support for their President.”
Katebire further expressed concern over what he described as unnecessary restrictions by security agencies, noting that some supporters have previously been injured or imprisoned without clear reasons. “Security should not be the reason for insecurity at our rallies,” he stressed.
The campaign trail will continue the following day, Tuesday 11th November, with Bobi Wine scheduled to visit Rubanda and Kisoro district in the afternoon.
NUP supporters in Kabale and surrounding districts are eagerly anticipating the rallies, which are expected to draw large crowds as the party intensifies its preparations for upcoming elections.
