Kabale District — Catholic Bishops Lawrence Mukasa of Kasana–Luwero and Callist Rubaramira of Kabale Diocese on Sunday reminded Christians that Christ remains the only way, the truth, the light, and the author of life. The prelates delivered this message during the requiem Mass for the late Jacenta Katimba, who was born in 1944 and passed away on 29 November 2025.

The Mass, held at Kacuro Primary School playground in Kacuro Village, Kigata Parish, Kyanamira Sub-county, drew hundreds of mourners, including political leaders and community members.

Bishop Callist Rubaramira comforted the grieving family by emphasizing that God is the ultimate destination for every human being.

“He is with us from the moment we are born and remains with us even in death. We rest with Him, and therefore, there is no need to fear death,” Bishop Rubaramira said.

Bishop Lawrence Mukasa praised the late Jacenta as a woman whose life truly reflected the work of God. He noted with admiration that she played a pivotal role in nurturing two of her children into religious vocations—her daughter, Sr. Clare K. Kembabazi, who became a Catholic nun, and her son, Fr. Innocent, who joined the priesthood.

“She has shown parents that they can greatly influence their children’s path to serving God,” Bishop Mukasa said, urging Christian parents to emulate her dedication, faith, and guidance.

The funeral attracted several prominent leaders, including Ndorwa East MP Wilfred Niwagaba, Kabale District Woman MP Catherine Ndamira Atwakile, and Kabale Municipality MP Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara, who joined the community to honor Jacenta’s remarkable life.

Mourners remembered her as a devout, hardworking, and inspirational mother whose legacy lives on through her children and the values she instilled in those around her.
