Bishop Rubaramira Urges Parents to Support Children in Income-Generating Projects
Kabale, Uganda — The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, has urged parents to support their children to start small income-generating projects as a way of nurturing financial responsibility and self-reliance from an early age.
Speaking during a confirmation mass where 442 Christians were received into the Catholic Church at Kabale Stadium, Bishop Rubaramira emphasized the importance of introducing children to project management and financial literacy at a young age.
He gave an example of chicken rearing, noting that it is a lucrative activity that can help children meet some of their personal needs such as clothes, salon expenses, books, and pens.
“If our children start from Primary Three with project wisdom and money familiarization, they will grow up with financial discipline. You cannot value money when you don’t know its importance or how to use it. That’s why PDM money is often mishandled by many people,” Bishop Rubaramira stated.
The event was also attended by several dignitaries, including Hon. Catherine Ndamira, the Kabale District Woman MP, who highlighted her efforts in supporting families through goat rearing, piggery, and other household development projects.
Other leaders present included Dr. Nicholas Kamara, the MP for Kabale Municipality; Nelson Nshangabasheija, the Kabale District LCV Chairman; and Sentaro Byamugisha, among others.
Bishop Rubaramira’s call aligns with national efforts to promote the Parish Development Model (PDM) by encouraging communities to embrace sustainable income-generating activities to improve household welfare.
