A total of thirty-four (34) pupils of Bamure Primary School in Ludara Sub-County, Koboko District, have been left without Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results after their Integrated Science answer scripts were allegedly never submitted to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) for marking.
The incident came to light on Friday, 30th January 2026, following the official release of the 2025 PLE results by UNEB. Upon accessing and analysing the results from the UNEB portal, the Koboko District Inspector of Schools, Ms. Rita Harriet, discovered that all candidates from Bamure Primary School had missing marks in Integrated Science. As a result, the pupils’ results were withheld and marked with the letter “X”.
Concerned by the anomaly, the District Inspector of Schools instructed the Headteacher of Bamure Primary School, Mr. Waku Zabair Abiriga, to file a formal complaint to UNEB, supported by evidence confirming that the pupils had indeed sat for the Integrated Science examination.
Before receiving any response from UNEB, the Headteacher reportedly made a startling discovery inside his office. A sealed UNEB PLE answer script envelope for Integrated Science was found inside a blue metallic suitcase/box allegedly used by UNEB officials during the examination period to temporarily store answer scripts before transportation to their final destinations.
The matter was immediately reported to the District Inspector of Schools, who subsequently lodged a formal complaint at Koboko Police Station on 1st February 2026. Police opened a General Enquiry File to investigate how the UNEB Integrated Science answer script envelope, bearing random number 819239 for Bamure Primary School, failed to reach the marking centre.
A team of police officers, led by the District Police Commander, SP Masereka Michael, visited the scene at Bamure Primary School in Morodo Village, Bamure Parish, Ludara Sub-County. The Headteacher’s office was identified as the actual scene of crime, where the sealed UNEB answer script envelope was recovered from inside the metallic blue box. The scene was examined, processed, and documented by the Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO), and statements were recorded from relevant witnesses.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Integrated Science answer scripts for all thirty-four pupils were never submitted to UNEB for marking, directly leading to the missing results.
Conclusion
Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing to establish responsibility and determine how the UNEB answer scripts remained at the school instead of being delivered for marking. Authorities say further action will depend on the outcome of the inquiries, as the affected pupils await resolution of their examination results.
