St Thereza Girl’s Secondary School Rushoroza, Erupts in Jubilation as New School Vehicle Arrives
KABALE – 8 Nov 2025 – Excitement filled the atmosphere at St Thereza Girls Vocational Secondary School, Rushoroza, on Friday evening as students, staff, parents, and community members gathered in jubilant celebration to welcome the school’s newly acquired Toyota Vanguard, registration number UA 457 BX.
The new car is expected to significantly improve the school’s ability to transport students safely, facilitate staff travel, and support co-curricular, administrative, and emergency activities.
The scene was filled with chants, ululations, and joyful singing as students lined the school driveway, waving and cheering while the gleaming vehicle was driven onto the school compound. The school anthem and hymns to St. Theresa echoed across Rushoroza Hill, symbolizing pride, unity, and thanksgiving.
Speaking during the event, Sister Sophia Natuhwera, the Headteacher, expressed deep appreciation to the school’s supporters for helping turn a long-awaited dream into reality.
“I want to thank all stakeholders who have made our dream come true. We have been facing transport challenges for years, and this being our first vehicle, the joy on the faces of our students says it all,” Sr. Natuhwera said.
“This is not just about a car—this is about improving the safety, comfort, and exposure of our learners. Today’s celebration reflects our vibrant spirit and collective pride.”
The school director and member of the Board of Governors, Rev. Fr. Christmas Austin, also praised the unity and generosity of parents, alumni, and community well-wishers who contributed to the fundraising efforts.
“This achievement is a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together for the future of our children,” he remarked.
The vehicle was later blessed in a special ceremony led by Fr. Christmas Austin, alongside Fr. Nomugisha Januario, Fr. Kwitonda Posiano, and Fr. Rutinaki Fredrick, marking its formal commissioning for school use. Students were then given an opportunity to view and experience the vehicle up close.
Kamusiime Macklean Batwale, Chairperson of Kabale Municipality Southern Division and Vice Chairperson of the school’s Board of Governors, noted that the school continues to make steady progress in both enrollment and discipline.
“In just a few years, St Thereza is poised to become a model girls’ school in this region,” he stated.
