Justice Ministry Opens Regional Office in Kabale
Kabale—The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs on Tuesday officially opened a regional office in Kabale District, a move aimed at improving access to legal services in the Kigezi sub-region.
The new office will provide legal advisory services, represent government in civil cases, and handle matters such as contract drafting and succession issues. It is expected to serve several districts in the region, reducing the need for residents and local leaders to travel long distances to access justice services.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Justice His Lordship Dr Flavian Zeija said the establishment of the office is part of government efforts to decentralize legal services and bring justice closer to the people.
The Kabale district council speaker Ms Flavia Kanagizi welcomed the development, saying it will save time and transport costs. “Many have been traveling to Mbarara and other towns to seek legal assistance, which has often delayed cases.” She noted
Speaker Kanagizi further explained that the office will improve service delivery by providing timely legal guidance to district authorities.
The Kabale office is one of several regional centers planned across the country to improve efficiency in the justice system and ensure that legal services are accessible to all Ugandans.
Officials further expressed optimism that the new office will help speed up case handling and promote fairness in the region.
