Bishop Calls for Forgiveness and Unity Ahead of Christmas Celebrations.
Kabale-The Bishop Kabale Diocese Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira has appealed to Christians to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation as they prepare to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, which will be marked on Thursday.
Delivering his Christmas message today at his residence at Rushoroza House on Rushoroza Hill in the Southern Division of Kabale Municipality, the Bishop urged believers to attend church services, except those who feel unable to do so because of unresolved hatred or differences with their neighbours. He encouraged such individuals to forgive, reconcile, and begin a new life in Christ.
He stressed with concern that in small Christian communities and families, some people give what he described as “limping excuses,” such as refusing to pray or attend church simply because someone they disagree with worships there.
“We hear people saying, ‘I cannot pray because so-and-so goes to that church,’” the Bishop Rubaramira said. “These excuses do not reflect the teachings of Christ, who is the master of forgiveness.”
Bishop Callist Rubaramira explained that Christians should make an effort to speak kindly and even share laughter with those who may not like them, explaining that it is through the power of God that believers receive the strength to forgive.
He further called upon Christians to accept Jesus Christ to truly dwell in their hearts with dignity, saying this is what makes them glorified children of God.
According to the Bishop, unity among believers is essential for development and goodwill in society, adding that it is through unity that the true image of Jesus Christ is reflected in people’s lives.
He concluded by urging Christians to use the Christmas season as a time of reconciliation, love, and renewed commitment to following Christ’s teachings.
