Kabale University Graduates 1,673 at 10th Graduation Ceremony
Kabale University on Friday awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates to a total of 1,673 graduands during its 10th Graduation Ceremony as a public university.
The Chairperson of the University Council, Mr. Adson Kakuru, commended the university’s progress and reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of education and services offered. He revealed that with the current enrollment of over 7000 students, the institution is facing a shortage of land and space for expansion. He therefore appealed to the Kabale District Local Government to allocate additional land to facilitate the construction of more facilities.

Mr. Kakuru highlighted several key achievements of the university, including the approval of new policies aimed at enhancing service delivery. These include the Intellectual Property Policy, the Policy for Students with Disabilities, and the Risk Management Policy.
In terms of infrastructure development, he noted that in line with the university’s 50-year master plan, construction is underway for a four-storey Engineering Department block at the Nyabikoni campus. He also mentioned the completion of an Irish Potato Value Addition Unit, which is fully equipped and set to be commissioned soon.
Kabale University students also continue to excel academically, with the Medical School recently winning the African Inter-University Medical Quiz Competition. The university currently ranks sixth nationally among Ugandan universities.
Despite these achievements, the university continues to face challenges, particularly limited land for expansion, though there are expectations of acquiring more space in the near future.
This year’s graduation saw 151 Master’s degree recipients, 7 PhD awardees, and several others graduating with Bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, and certificates across various disciplines.
