Kabale, Friday – Health workers across the country have been called upon to uphold ethical standards in their service to patients, as a key pillar of restoring hope and trust in the healthcare system.

The appeal was made during the graduation ceremony of 326 students from the Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing, held today at the school premises. The graduates, who received diplomas and certificates in nursing and midwifery, are expected to join the health sector and serve in various capacities across Uganda.

The school, which is a pivotal institution for health training in the Kigezi region, continues to play a major role in shaping Uganda’s healthcare workforce.

In her address, the Principal of the School , Mrs Nambilo Josephine Mukasa voiced  the importance of professional conduct and compassion in patient care. “We have a lot of work to do for our patients. It is important that we uphold health ethics and become a source of hope for those who come to us in need,” she said.

The ceremony was graced by Birungi Harriet Samba, the Principal of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Ministry of Education and Sports. She echoed the call for professionalism, reminding graduates that the world is in need of dedicated health workers. “The world is waiting for professional health workers who can restore hope in those who have lost it,” she noted.

She also highlighted the growing focus on science-based professions in Uganda, saying that the government’s prioritization of scientists has led to increased enrolment in health and science training institutions.

Founded on 9th September 1972, Kabale School of Comprehensive Nursing began with just 120 students, offering certificate-level courses in nursing and midwifery.
